Website Mistakes That are Hurting Your Business

Website Mistakes That are Hurting Your Business

You finally did it – you created a website for your business! Launching a website is no joke. It takes a lot of time, energy and passion to create a really great website that not only tells people who you are and what you do but actually converts those people into customers.

After the creation of the site, it’s very important to stay on top of all of the logistics that go into optimizing a website in order to maximize your efforts. In order to ensure you have an efficient, user-friendly and functional website, you should make sure you are not making these 4 crucial mistakes.

Website Mistakes That are Hurting Your Business

Mistake #1: Ignoring Loading Speed

Ignoring loading speed is a common mistake. This is not one someone would think about unless you were trained in web design and optimization. Everything you put on your site effects the loading speed. Things like videos and other types of large files will affect how quickly our site will load when someone clicks on it. If it takes more than four seconds for any web page to load completely, it’s too slow. Honestly, nothing can ruin a potential customer’s online experience quite like a slow website. So, to avoid this, you should choose servers that stay up to speed with your site. You should also think about what you are putting onto your site.

Mistake #2: Ignoring Mobile Optimization

The majority of your clientele will be viewing your site on a mobile device. This is why optimizing your site for mobile viewing is incredibly important. Most will finish designing on a computer and think it looks flawless, but as soon as you look at it on your phone there will be text out of place or images missing. We all know how frustrating it can be to go to a site that isn’t mobile friendly, and you are trying to scroll forever to find the information you are looking for. This leads people to leaving the site and not contacting you. To avoid this mistake, make sure you take the time to go over the site and make sure it is good to go for both desktop and mobile. Most websites now will even have ready-made templates that will easily allow for mobile optimization.

Mistake #3: Not including Reviews or Testimonials

According to a study by Pew Research, 74% of Americans say it’s important to read reviews posted online by others who have purchased or worked with the company. Furthermore, 82% say the consult online ratings and reviews when buying something for the first time. If this doesn’t tell you how important reviews and testimonials are for you to obtain business, we don’t know what will!

Mistake #4: Your Contact Info is Hard to Find

This happens all of the time. You go to a website and their contact information isn’t clearly listed. Their hours are missing or there is no phone number or email address. Regardless of your goals of having your website, we are sure that it has something to do with fostering client relationships and generating business. To do this, your contact information is a MUST. We suggest having a clear page dedicated just to contact information that has everything someone would need to know in order to get in touch with you like; name, phone number, email, location, and hours. It is also good to have them on the footer of your site so you can see it on every page. A pro tip is to have a button at the top of your website with a call to action like calling you or booking an appointment!

Overall, you want your site to reflect the hard work you poured into it. Don’t let these few mistakes ruin the potential of new business!
